Police hunting the people responsible for the murder of a Leeds pensioner over a decade ago are appealing for people to come forward and help them solve the crime.
71-year-old Leonard Farrar, a retired Merchant Navy Officer, was found dead at his home on Cardinal Road, Beeston, on 4th May 2002. He lived alone and had been stabbed to death.
A thorough investigation was conducted at the time by officers from West Yorkshire Police but so far no one has been brought to justice for the crime. The crime is still being investigated, now by the Force’s Major Investigation Review Team.
“Someone out there knows who killed Leonard Farrar,” said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fountain.
“Enquiries like these are never closed and we will use every opportunity we can to bring those responsible to justice. Over time allegiances can change and people who have remained silent for over 11 years need to come forward and help us give Mr Farrar’s family closure, ” DCI Fountain added.
“We remain in regular contact with Mr Farrar’s family to keep them updated on the progress of our work, and I would appeal to anyone who has any information whatsoever, no matter how small or insignificant they may think it is to get in touch with the Review Team.”
