Crime issues discussed at Belle Isle community meeting

Sergeant Paul Denison attended the latest Newhalls and Aberfields community meeting at Manor Field Hall in Belle Isle, writes Rothwell NPT.

Crime statistics for the area were discussed and although reported crime in the Newhalls and Aberfields has been low there has been a noticeable increase in burglaries in the Belle Isle area, however this appears to have quietened down after some recent arrests.

Of concern was that there were three lads hanging around the front of KASA stores believed to be intimidating customers and possibly dealing drugs on a daily basis. Rothwell NPT will make enquiries into this issue.

The Local Priority was changed from speeding vehicles on Newhall Road ,which Rothwell NPT will still look at where necessary, to anti-social behaviour in Elmton Close and Lindale Close and the grassed areas where youths are damaging fences, trees and road signs by carelessly playing football..

Present were 21 residents along with Councillors Truswell, Blake and Groves and representatives from BITMO.

Next meeting will be on Monday 21 January 2013 at 7.15pm at Manor Field Hall.
