Cineworld to trial employment of zombies at White Rose

The first dead-icated employment scheme of its kind in the UK starts on Friday (18 October 2019) coinciding with the release of Zombieland: Double Tap.

Cineworld, the UK’s leading cinema chain, has today announced the introduction of a zombie employment scheme across 12 of its cinemas in the UK and Ireland including Cineworld Leeds at the White Rose Shopping Centre. Launching this month, the scheme has been created by Cineworld in a bid to engage the zombie community.

Following a ghouling selection process, trial shifts will take place at Cineworld Leeds from 5.15pm on the evening of 18th October, coinciding with one of the most anticipated film releases this month, Zombieland: Double Tap, starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

During the trial shifts, each zombie will be tasked with a multitude of jobs, from serving customers drinks and snacks at concession stands to checking tickets and fulfilling cleaning duties.

A Cineworld Spookesperson said:

“We are delighted to be the first business in the UK and Ireland to trial the employment of zombies! Cineworld offers fantastic career prospects and is a brilliant company to work for. We are proud to employ a diverse and inclusive workforce who create such an amazing cinemagoing experience.”

Based on the success of this trial, Cineworld is considering a nationwide roll-out of the scheme. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of the cinema chain’s day-to-day operations, therefore cinemagoers are encouraged to visit one of the trial sites and share their experience on social media using #CineworldZombieScheme.

The trial starts at Cineworld Leeds on Friday 18 October from 5:15pm.
