CBFT logoThe Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust is planning a big fundraising Summer Fair on Sunday 9th June.

The fair will be opened by the new Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Tom Murray and feature a South Leeds’ Strongest Man competition.

Competitors will have three main tests of endurance, speed and strength. The competition welcomes new competitors and the winner nets a keg of beer.

Other attractions at the fair, which runs at the Hunslet Club from 2-8pm, include a children’s animal interaction show, stalls, bottle tombola, bingo and a Hog Roast. The raffle prizes include a wide screen TV and a coffee maker.

All funds raised at the fair will go to the Trust’s latest project. They plan to set up a counselling service for the siblings of teenagers who die suddenly. Incredibly no such national service exists, but brothers and sisters are affected enormously by the sudden loss of a sibling.

The Trust organise Sunday Lunch clubs for older people in community venues around South Leeds. Last year took lunches to 30 housebound older people at Christmas and delivered 200 emergency boxes to vulnerable households to help them through the winter weather.

Volunteers, who have previously sky-dived to raise funds, are now planning a 5k sponsored run in Middleton Park on 8th September and a Christmas Fair at Tenants Hall on 14th December.

The Trust was formed to remember Ciaran, from Belle Isle, who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident in 2010. The Trust’s aims are to forge an enterprising community spirit between and old and young people and to support vulnerable people in the South Leeds community.
