Carol concerts coming up in Beeston, Holbeck and Middleton

 

Lantern Festival - A4 PosterLantern Festival in Cross Flatts Park

Residents and school children will be lighting up Cross Flatts Park on Friday (13 December 2013) and singing Christmas Carols with the Salvation Army band. You are encouraged to bring a lantern or a light, but no candles or naked flames please.

Refreshments will be served from 5:30pm, then the local Salvation Army band will be leading carols from 6pm-7pm. The event will take place by the Watsonian Pavilion, at the top end of the park near Beeston Road.

The event has been organised the Church in Leeds 11, with support from Community First, the Salvation Army, Leeds City Council, and many others.

Residents are invited to sing some traditional carols, hear the Christmas message, share a simple meal, enjoy a glass of mulled wine, and celebrate Christmas together!

The carol service at St Matthew’s community centre on Sunday 15 December, 6-7:30pm. This is an event which has happened for the last three years, organised by a group of local Holbeck residents who are part of Mosaic Church and it has been a great festive evening.

“Everyone is so welcome; we would love to join together as a community at this festive time of year to share in the excitement of Christmas! It is an event which is well attended by local residents, families, members of local community groups and local councillors but it would be great to see more South Leeds residents come along and join in the fun!”

Mosaic Church are a church who meet in three gatherings across the city, having formerly been meeting in a large warehouse on Sweet Street. The South Gathering has been meeting at Cockburn High School since January of this year.

The Learning Trust (South Leeds) Annual Carol Concert

NativityThe Learning Trust (South Leeds) annual carol concert will take place at St. Mary’s Church, Middleton at 6pm on Wednesday 18 December 2013. It will feature children’s choirs, community choir and the Salvation Army band (Hunslet).

The Learning Trust (South Leeds) is the partnership of seven schools in Beeston and Middleton: Beeston Primary, Cockburn High, Hugh Gaitskell Primary, Middleton Primary, Middleton St Mary’s Primary, St Philip’s Catholic Primary and Westwood Primary.
