Camelot: The Moor – A Reading

A saga that has involved a riot outside Leeds Town Hall and children from Ingram Road primary school enacting a battle in the grounds of Temple Newsam house is reaching its conclusion …

What would you do to build the perfect world?
What would you give up?
Who would you betray?

For 10 years, across theatre and film, Slung Low have created a unique saga.
The story of a young woman, who calls herself Bear, and the new nation she built.
Bear, who said she saw visions. Who said to go forward we must go back. Who led a revolution and changed the world.

This is how the story ends.

This Saturday (26 September 2026), Slung Low and Leeds People’s Theatre present a special rehearsed reading of a new people’s theatre play Camelot: The Moor, written by James Phillips.

The play takes place in the world first created in Camelot: The Shining City, which premiered at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield in 2015.

Together with members of Leeds People’s Theatre we transferred from stage to screen with The Good Book (2020) and The Magician (2023).

Join us this month to hear a company of Leeds People’s Theatre members and guest artists perform a script-in-hand reading of this epic new play at our Warehouse in Holbeck.

There are also opportunities for adults to take part and read alongside our guest artists as members of Leeds People’s Theatre. We will be rehearsing together in our warehouse during the day on Saturday 26th September ahead of the 5pm reading. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact morven@slunglow.org.

Book your free ticket here and pay what you decide after the show. The Warehouse In Holbeck is located on Crosby Street (entrance on Rydall Place) LS11 9RQ. The reading will take place from 5-7:30pm on Saturday 26 September.
