I’m retiring from the BITMO’s GATE Walk and Talk as Walk Group Leader, as soon as a new leader can be found. Don’t worry, I won’t leave until a new Leader is found.
I would like to thank Carla Yeomans and Peter of BITMO’s GATE and all the walkers over the last 5 years for all your support.
The walks have been every two weeks on a Monday, but when a new leader can be found, they will be every week on a Monday, starting at 11am.
I’ve had a fantastic time, but think it’s time to hand over to someone who is younger and fitter than me to take the group forward.
The routes covered over the last 5 years have been Middleton Park, Cross Flatts Park, Rothwell Springhead Park and various walks along the Canal tow paths.
There is a Walk Leader course running from St George’s Centre, Middleton in June, and if you want to go on this course you can run the walking group from BITMO GATE after getting the certificate on the course. You will have to speak to Peter at BITMO first if you want to go on course.
That’s the only way you will be insured to run the walking group, when you have completed the Group Leader Course.
The course is fun, you will learn a bit of health and safety, First Aid and to finish you will go on walk lasting about an hour. The walk to finish is to see if your fit enough to actually run a group of walkers.
