Beeston Blooms at Gardening Awards

 

Community groups and businesses in Beeston brought back a haul of Gold and Silver from this year’s Leeds In Bloom Awards.

Ten groups won awards in either the Spring or Summer judging rounds, collecting their certificates at a special event at Leeds Civic Hall. The full list is:

  • Evans Property:  Gold in Spring, Gold in Summer
  • Cross Flatts Park Millennium Garden:  Silver in Spring, Gold in Summer
  • Park Fisheries:  Gold in Summer
  • St Anthony’s Primary School:  Silver in Summer
  • St David’s Church:  Silver in Spring, Silver in Summer
  • St Marys Church:  Gold in Spring, Gold in Summer
  • Sunnyview House:  Silver in Spring, Silver in Summer
  • South Leeds Conservative Club: Highly Commended in Spring and Summer
  • Marsden Court:  Highly Commended in Spring and Summer
  • Maltings Court:  Silver in Summer

Councillor Angela Gabriel, Chair of Beeston In Bloom said:

“This is a fantastic achievement. I’m so pleased that the hard work of the volunteers has been recognised. Their work brightens up our community.”

Leeds In Bloom runs free competitions in Spring and Summer every year to encourage residents and businesses to work in partnership to decorate their homes or premises with flowers and make Leeds look more attractive.

Credit is given for originality, variety, colour and impact. Judges assess the overall condition and maintenance of the display including efforts to overcome environmental difficulties. Cleanliness, neatness, tidiness and absence of litter are all be taken into account.​​
