Should we ban the sale of fireworks?

A petition has been started on the UK Parliament website calling for a ban on the sale of fireworks to individuals. It reads:

Ban the sale of fireworks to the public and only approve organised displays.

Every year 1000’s of people are hurt, burnt, maimed and even lose their lives through accidents involving fireworks.
Every year people are terrorised by the misuse of fireworks.
Every year animals are hurt and traumatised by fireworks.
Ban them please.

What do you think?

Are you fed up of random fireworks being set off in your street for no discernible reason, or is your family firework party the highlight of your year?

  1. I’m not a killjoy and I love a fireworks display as much as the next man but we’ve been hearing fireworks going of most days for now about two weeks. Not only is it a noise nuisance but it put dogs and other animal’s in a constant nervous state.

  2. Same old proposition… ban something because of abuse by a minority..

How about enforcing existing rules and there being some consequence for those that continuously display anti social behaviour??

    1. Agree.

We should ban the people always calling for everything to be banned, the fun police.
