Art Life: South of the River | Landscapes of the (Un)Known

Now that the New Year is well and truly underway and we prepare to enter February, so too does BasementArtsProject prepare to enter, not just our 2020 programme on 6 March, but also the last year of our first decade as a Beeston-based arts organisation. On 2 April 2021 BasementArtsProject will turn 10 years old, but in the meantime we have a lot of projects lined up for everyone here in South Leeds.

To kick off this year we have an artist originally from Leeds but who is now based in Hull. Lou Hazelwood’s photographic based practice utilises experimental methods of production and analogue equipment in order to create something akin to abstract landscapes. The alien nature of these images echo the other thematic thread in Hazelwood’s work which is that of our own disappearing industrial landscape.

BasementArtsProject would like to invite you to join us for the opening of this exhibition on Friday 6 March 2020 between 7:30 and 9:30pm.

If you cannot make it for the preview night the exhibition will remain open on the following dates:

Sunday 8 March | 2pm – 4pm
Monday 9 March | 11am – 2pm
Thursday 12 March | 11am – 2pm
Sunday 15 March | 2pm – 4pm
Monday 16 March | 11am – 2pm
Thursday 19 March | 11am – 2pm

We also have a special event on Tuesday 17 March in which the artist will be present at BasementArtsProject between 12-2pm. BasementArtsProject will be providing hot food for lunch and the artist will be available to talk about her work and answer any questions that may arise. There are only 8 tickets for this event and they can be obtained from https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lunchtime-conversation-lou-hazelwood-tickets-88369191631?aff=ebdssbeac

Or you can book a ticket by calling Bruce Davies on 0750 672 1504
