Alcohol and Drugs Information Day

Anyone interested in learning more about alcohol and drugs is welcome to attend a free event in Beeston on Thursday (17 October 2019).

Forward Leeds are offering an event at the Hamara Centre, on Tempest Road in Beeston, providing information and advice around alcohol and other drugs.

Bill Owen of Forward Leeds said:

“It’s a chance for people to find out more about alcohol and drugs, whether they know very little or quite a lot. There are a lot of stories out there as well as misinformation on social media. We’re hoping to bust some myths as well as provide facts and insights.

“As well as our talks, visitors are welcome to ask any questions they would like answers about the topics of alcohol, drugs and substance misuse, including the effects of those drugs.”

The day will also cover recognising those who may have drinking or drugs issues and how they can be supported.

The event starts at 11am when Jess Clayton from West Yorkshire Police will be giving a talk on ‘County Lines’.

Forward Leeds are running four 30 minute workshops

  • Cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids (aka spice)
  • Opiods (such as heroin, morphine and codeine)
  • Alcohol
  • Young People and substances

These workshops will run half-hourly from 12pm with a break from 1pm-2pm for lunch.

The workshops will all run at 12:00, 12:30, 2:00 and 2:30pm. This will offer plenty of opportunities for people to drop in on a workshop that interests them or to rotate around all four.

  1. This is a great project and I’ve been happy to agree to fund some of the refreshments from MICE with Cllr Iqbal.
