Actors and Actresses wanted in Beeston

We are Sophie + Kerri, two artists currently living and working in Beeston at Artist House 45. You can read about us in July’s edition of South Leeds Life or here: www.sophieandkerri.com

We are looking to work with people living in the area interested in acting. Whatever level of experience – whether you have never done it before and always wanted to give it a go, acted in school drama class, have starred in a local panto or play, acted in an advert, extra in Coronation Street or a Bollywood film – we want you!

We will be using simple improvisation games, working in a group at Rowland Road Working Men’s Club, two days in August, and paying you for your time. The sessions will be filmed and go towards a new artist film. Our aim is to capture scenes between the home, street, playground, and the social club – as we feel these are important social spaces, less managed and controlled than other places we may ‘use’ in our everyday lives.

Working together we will co-create daydream-like scenes of past/possible future acts of everyday resistance. Through improvised, playful and candid dialogue together we will explore: what do spaces allow, limit, invite? And what conditions, gestures or experiences characterise urban life in Beeston?

We will be selecting people on the basis of making the group balanced and representational to the area, therefore we are open to all ages, genders, sexualities and backgrounds. We will select 6 actors to work with.

If this is of interest email kerriandsophie@gmail.com as soon as possible to get more info. We will be selecting the group in mid July.
