Video: DAZL at Sharp Lane Community Centre

Sharp Lane Community Group’s autumn event on Saturday (30 September 2017) was a great success raising over £500 for the group.

A packed community centre was entertained by DAZL‘s various dance groups showing their skills. As well as a buffet, there was a tombola, cake and nearly new stall too.

The event was sponsored by Middleton Park Ward Councillors Paul Truswell, Judith Blake and Kim Groves, who also support DAZL through Community Committee funding.

Speaking on behalf of the Councillors, Paul Truswell said:

“Judith, Kim and I are absolutely delighted that our Community Committee and MICE funding enabled a wonderful event that brought the generations together in such a memorable way.

“We want to pay particular tribute to Christine Thompson, Treasurer of Sharp Lane Community Group, who organised the event. Christine fundraises tirelessly and arranges many activities and trips for senior citizens.

“It was great to see DAZL showcase how they’ve used Community Committee funding to provide a wonderful experience for scores of young lads and lasses from Middleton and Belle Isle. We’re proud to support them.”

The funds raised will allow Sharp Lane Community Group continue their work providing activities for elderly & local wider community to reduce social isolation, build community ownership & spirit. Regular activities include bingo and a lunch club as well as trips out.
