It’s been a great privilege to serve the communities of Middleton and Belle Isle for the last 16 years. Working with many of you over the years we have achieved major improvements to the area, but since 2010 our task has been made much harder by vicious Tory cuts.

My focus has always been around better opportunities for young people and helping to protect the elderly, as well as keeping our streets clean and tidy.

Paul, Kim and I work tirelessly as a team to combat the £250 million Tory cuts to Council services. They’re making us pay more Council Tax for fewer services. We’ve lost 1,200 police officers. Our NHS is creaking.

Despite these massive cuts, we’ve achieved numerous successes working with local people, including: *improved street cleaning; *Council-funded PCSOs; *over 200 affordable homes; *supporting our four Neighbourhood Networks caring for our senior citizens; *enhanced activities for young people; *award-winning improvements to Middleton Park *the Urban Bike Park *expanding services at St George’s Centre; *major refurbishment of Middleton Leisure Centre and pitches; *improvements to Middleton community centre and Manorfield Hall; *protecting popular community events.

Please vote for the three of us to continue this vital teamwork for our community.

I’m a family man, married with two young boys. I’ve lived in Middleton & Belle Isle all my life and still do, I love the area and I am passionate about improving it. I’ve been a member of Belle Isle WMC since age 18. I’m a volunteer, founder (2004) and now Secretary of Middleton Park FC where I currently coach several age groups from 18 months to 6 year old. I sit on the League council/ board of the West Yorkshire League, Leeds & District FA, South Leeds Life and Middleton Elderly Aid – all in my spare time.

We need better representation, people who live nearby, people that want to improve our area, our lives and our kids’ lives, local issues need tackling head on and the community to take a lead role and not career politicians. The current council has used the money left after the cuts recklessly and failed to protect the most vulnerable in the City; closing dementia care homes, but yet finding money for cultural events is not how money should be prioritised during austerity. Our area has the same issues it had in the 80’s/90’s, the same party has run our area since records began, time for change.

I have lived in the area 32 years; my whole life is here. My family and I care deeply about where we live; I know the communities and I care about the people. It has been my pleasure and privilege to represent the communities of Belle Isle and Middleton for the last eight years. As a local Councillor, both living and working in Middleton Park Ward, I know the people I help and support – need strong representation. That’s one of the reasons why I want to devote my working life to making a real difference.

What matters to me most is using my experience on the local stage to lessen the disadvantages of poverty and inequality in our society, by negotiating the best deal for the community.

Judith , Paul and I work tirelessly as a team to combat the £250 million Tory cuts to Council services. They’re making us pay more Council Tax for fewer services. We’ve lost 1,200 police officers. Our NHS is creaking.

I’m honoured to serve this area. Its communities still face many challenges that shaped my own life and politics. My mum was a laundrette attendant, my dad a steelworker. Money was tight. A decent Council house and excellent local schools gave me a start. The NHS saved my life. I’ve devoted my life to fighting for quality local services, especially schools, affordable housing, our NHS and social care, police, environment and public transport.
